MAURO PETITO

Through photography, I delve into the essence of life, particularly emphasizing my expertise in the use of light and its symbolic significance. I refrain from labeling myself solely as a photographer, as my relationship with existence extends beyond the confines of any single discipline. With careful attention, I meticulously select the physical tools and modes of expression to bring forth my artistic vision, with light serving as the primary tool from which everything originates.
The camera, infused with its rules and enigmas, grants me the ability to delve into the profound depths and complexities of life. Each captured moment becomes an open window to the beauty and enchantment that only light can reveal. My intention is to share my inner exploration, evoking contemplation and forging emotional connections through my work, thereby fostering a deeper connection with the most profound aspects of the self. I am in constant evolution, always ready to explore new expressive horizons, driven by the boundless wonder of light in every artistic manifestation.
I was born in Naples in 1969, and I developed my creativity in the challenging context of the city after the earthquake of 1980. My family taught me the importance of simplicity, and my father instilled in me the ability to create objects and sculptural works with limited resources.
I studied Photography in Naples, expanding my experiences by delving into the study of light, its behavior, and perception.
My artistic research revolves around the complexities of human beings, exploring their multiple personalities and relationships within the context of space and time. I delve into themes of identity and the fragmented nature of existence in all its forms.
